Tormead School uses the ISEB Common Pre-Test for 11+ admissions, assessing English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

What is the 11+ admission process for Tormead School?

  1. Parents need to fill out an online registration form. Please note there is a £125 non refundable fee when registering your child for 11+ exam at Tormead School. 
  2. Candidates sit the 11+ ISEB online assessment early December. 
  3. Candidates are invited for an interview in January.
  4. Scholarship assessment day takes place nearing the end of November.
  5. Offers are sent in the third week of January.

What is the 11+ exam format like for Tormead School?

The ISEB Pre-test consists of four key areas:

  • English – Assesses reading comprehension and grammar through cloze sentences, shuffled sentences, and SPaG-based questions.
  • Mathematics – Evaluates mathematical ability in line with the national curriculum.
  • Verbal Reasoning – Measures problem-solving skills using words and language.
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning – Tests logical thinking through shapes, spatial awareness, diagrams, and visual patterns.

The full assessment takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete.

Does Tormead School offer Scholarships and Bursaries?

Tormead offers Academic, Art, Drama, Music, and Sports Scholarships, they provide enrichment and support and are valued at up to 10% of tuition fees. The number of awards each year is at the Head’s discretion, and all scholarships are reviewed annually.

At 11+ entry, all candidates sitting the Entrance Examination are automatically considered for Academic Scholarships, no separate tests or interviews are required.

For Art, Drama, Music, and Sports Scholarships, application details are sent to all registered candidates in their examination pack in late October. Successful scholars are expected to contribute actively to school life and remain at Tormead through A Levels.
