Royal Grammar School Private Tutors

Royal Grammar School uses the Online ISEB Common Pre-Test for admissions. This test evaluates English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning skills.

Parents must submit an online registration form with a £120 fee for UK candidates and £240 for international candidates.

Candidates will take the ISEB Common Pre-Test, sit an interview with a member of staff , and complete a short creative writing task.

Parents will be notified of the outcome in mid-February, in line with other Trinity Group schools. Acceptances must be confirmed by early March.

The Royal Grammar School 11+ assessment includes:

• ISEB Common Pre-Tests – Online, multiple-choice exams covering English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning (approximately 2 hours 15 minutes).
• Confidential reference from the applicant’s current headteacher.
• Individual interview with staff to explore interests and problem-solving skills.
• Creative writing task to assess English composition skills. Marks will be given for effective use of imagination, structure, purpose, organisation, coherence, sentence construction and punctuation.

Some students may be invited back for a second interview in January to assess inconsistencies in performance or potential for development.
