Kingswood House uses its own entrance examination, focusing on English, Mathematics, and Reasoning to evaluate academic abilities and potential.

1. Registration – After touring the school, parents can apply by completing the Registration Form and paying a £180 fee. As places are limited, early registration is encouraged. Any bursary or scholarship applications should also be submitted at this stage. Parents must disclose any medical or academic reports, including EHCPs if applicable.
2. Baseline Assessment – The school follows a non-selective admissions policy, offering places based on availability rather than academic ranking. Applicants attend an informal baseline assessment, where a SENCo will conduct one-to-one literacy and numeracy tasks to evaluate their learning level.
3. Offer & Feedback- Following the assessment, the school will notify parents of the outcome:

• • If a child meets the criteria and space is available, an offer is made.
  • If no places are available but the child meets the entry requirements, they will be placed on the Waiting List.

4. Accepting an Offer – To secure a place, parents must accept in writing within 14 days and pay a £1,000 Acceptance Deposit, refundable at the end of Year 11.

The best way to prepare for 11 plus exams is to complete practice papers. This allows your child to understand the exam format, experience the questions first hard and master the skill of working under timed conditions.

It is extremely important for your child to have a high understanding of the different maths and English topics that could come up.
