Ewell Castle School administers its own entrance examination, testing students in English (comprehension and writing), Mathematics, and a standardised reading assessment that is produced by GL Assessment.

1. Parents need to complete an registration form found on the school’s website: https://www.ewellcastle.co.uk/assets/filemanager/ecs-files-2020/Ewell%20Castle%20School%20Application%20Form%20web%2029-10-20.pdf and pay a £180 registration fee.
2. Your child will sit the exams.
3. Your child will sit an interview with the Head Teacher.

• The English paper consists of a comprehension and a creative writing task. Marks will be given for effective use of imagination, structure, purpose, organisation, coherence, sentence construction and punctuation.
• Mathematics (non-calculator paper) – The Maths paper assesses your child’s arithmetic and reasoning skills. The exam may include the following topics: number, measurement, ratio and proportion, geometry, algebra and statistics. 
• The standardised reading assessment, developed by GL Assessment, features sentence completion questions and evaluates comprehension skills through text-based analysis.
