Which 11+ Plus Exam Board does Epsom College use?

Epsom College requires candidates to take the ISEB Common Pre-Test as part of the admissions process. This test evaluates English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning skills.

You must register your child for the ISEB Pre-test through the official ISEB website.

What is the 11+ admission process for Epsom College?

There are three stages to the admission process for Epsom College:

  1. Parents must submit the online application form by the end of October in Year 6. This form provides an opportunity to highlight your child’s interests and accomplishments, assisting Epsom College in determining their suitability. A registration fee of £200 applies (£300 for international applicants). 
  2. Assessment – all children sit the ISEB Common Pre-Test before December 1st of Year 6.
  3. Engagement – Based on their assessment results, school reference, and details provided in the application form, approximately 500 children are invited to Epsom for a half-day visit. This gives them the opportunity to learn more about the school and showcase their strengths. 

Offers will be made in mid-February, and you will need to confirm acceptance within a month. A £4,000 deposit is required, with £2,000 deducted from the first term’s fees and the remaining £2,000 applied to your child’s final term at the College.

What is the 11+ exam format like for Epsom College?

The ISEB Pre-test consists of four key areas:

  • English – Assesses reading comprehension and grammar through cloze sentences, shuffled sentences, and SPaG-based questions.
  • Mathematics – Evaluates mathematical ability in line with the national curriculum.
  • Verbal Reasoning – Measures problem-solving skills using words and language.
  • Non-Verbal Reasoning – Tests logical thinking through shapes, spatial awareness, diagrams, and visual patterns.

The full assessment takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes to complete.

Does Epsom College have a catchment area?

No, Epsom College does not have a catchment area. Instead, entry is determined on 11+ test scores.

Does Epsom College offer Scholarships and Bursaries?

The following scholarships are available for Year 7 entry: Academic, Music, Drama, and Sport. Academic scholarships are awarded based on performance in the admissions process, with no additional exams required. 

Assessments for Music, Drama, and Sport scholarships take place in January of Year 6. Scholarship applications must be submitted alongside the online application form.

Means-tested bursaries provide financial support for families who would otherwise be unable to afford Epsom College fees. Applications should be submitted at least 6 – 12 months before enrolment. 

Additionally, The Royal Medical Foundation, a charity based at the College, offers financial assistance to doctors and their families for school fees at Epsom College and other institutions where there is a demonstrated need.
