About Cranleigh School

Cranleigh Prep School, located in the village of Cranleigh, is an independent co-educational day and boarding school for children aged 7 to 13 years. Set within 40 acres of picturesque countryside, the school offers a stimulating environment that nurtures both academic and personal growth.

Cranleigh Prep is known for its well-rounded education, blending academic excellence with a diverse range of co-curricular activities. Their SEND and EAL pupils make rapid progress and students say that they feel well prepared for senior school.

The subjects they offer are: art, computing, dance, design & technology, drama, English, food technology, French, geography, history, Latin, mathematics, music, religion & philosophy, science (biology, chemistry and physics) and Spanish.

Which 11+ Plus Exam Board does Cranleigh use?

Cranleigh School uses the ISEB Pre-Test for admissions. This online adaptive test assesses English, Mathematics, Verbal Reasoning, and Non-Verbal Reasoning.

What is the 11+ admission process for Cranleigh?

  1. Parents need to complete an online registration form found on the school’s website: https://admissions.cranleigh.org/user/welcome.php and pay a £240 registration fee.
  2. Children are then invited to a taster session during the summer of year 5 or autumn of year 6. This will allow children to meet staff and tour the campus. They can also take part in activities such as food technology, indoor fireworks and archery. Parents are also invited to come and meet the staff informally. 
  3. Next, the ISEB Common Pre-Test will be taken at your child’s current school between October and November of Year 6.
  4. In January of Year 6, they will be invoiced for an interview with a senior member of staff, a group discussion, a creative writing task, and engaging team-building activities.

What is the 11+ exam format like for Cranleigh?

  1. ISEB Pre Test assesses your child’s skills in English, maths, verbal reasoning and non verbal reasoning. The exam focuses on problem solving, vocabulary and arithmetic skills
  2. Creative writing paper assessed your child’s writing skills. Marks will be given for effective use of imagination, structure, purpose, organisation, coherence, sentence construction and punctuation.

Does Cranleigh Prep School have a catchment area?

No, Cranleigh Preparatory School does not have a catchment area. Instead, entry is determined on 11+ test scores.

Does Cranleigh Prep School offer Scholarships and Bursaries?

Cranleigh Prep School offers a limited number of Academic scholarships that are automatically awarded to the highest performers in the 11+ assessment, and Music scholarships.
