Box Hill School Private Tutors

Box Hill School administers its own bespoke entrance exam focusing on Mathematics and English. The assessments evaluate academic potential and suitability for the school’s curriculum.

1. Parents need to complete an online registration form found on the school’s website: https://www.boxhillschool.com/uk-application/ and pay a £150 registration fee (non-refundable). You will need to provide a photograph of your child and their full school report. 
2. You will receive an invite for the assessment day that takes place in November of year 6. Assessment day consists of a Maths and an English test, along with an interview with a senior member of staff.

• Maths (60 minutes) paper based
• English (45 minutes) paper based

The Maths paper assesses your child’s arithmetic and reasoning skills. The exam may include the following topics: number, measurement, ratio and proportion, geometry, algebra and statistics. This is a non calculator paper.

The English paper consists of a comprehension and a creative writing task. Marks will be given for effective use of imagination, structure, purpose, organisation, coherence, sentence construction and punctuation.

There is no set catchment area. Students apply from all over the UK and some applicants are international.

Box Hill School offers a limited number of Academic, Music, Art, Drama, and Sport scholarships. They can cover up to 10% of annual school fees and are available for students entering Years 7, 9, and 12.

You can apply for Year 9 entry.
